Bringing together an unprecedented coalition of nearly 100 industrial leaders, the European DIGITAL SME Alliance officially calls on the European Commission to guarantee Europe’s technological sovereignty.

The signatories of the letter, linked to the Eurosack initiative, are digital SMEs, technology associations as well as large groups in the sector. The letter highlights the need for a strong industrial strategy to reduce Europe’s dependence on foreign digital infrastructures and strengthen its position in the global technological landscape.
The letter warns that Europe risks losing control of its critical digital infrastructure. The signatories stress that, without immediate and radical action, the continent will face almost total dependence on non-European technologies within three years.
Industry leaders call on the European Commission to work closely with business to create an industrial policy focusing on:
- Stimulate demand for European solutions – Implement public procurement policies that give priority to digital solutions driven and assembled by Europeans, creating incentives for private sector investment in indigenous technology.
- Creating a viable European supply chain – Supporting open source solutions, common industry standards and interoperable infrastructures to consolidate European technology assets into a competitive digital ecosystem.
- Development of secure and sovereign cloud services – Establishing strong certification frameworks to ensure that sensitive European data remains protected from offshore access.
- Strategic financing for digital infrastructure – Reorienting existing EU funds towards results-oriented and market relevant projects and launching an infrastructure sovereign wealth fund to invest in key areas such as quantum computing and semiconductor manufacturing.
